Chicago-based design firm the Gettys Group has completed renovations at the Madison Washington DC, a Hilton Hotel. The 356-room property in the city’s downtown received a $4 million transformation to better reflect the legacy and trailblazing spirit of its namesake—Dolley Madison. The redesign features a contemporary aesthetic with more traditional details to demonstrate the dynamic duality of James and Dolley Madison.
“Our goal was to give a more expansive feel to the space, modernizing the activity flow and creating optional differentiated experiences,” says Meg Prendergast, principal at the Gettys Group. “We focused on meeting the programmatic needs of today’s guest, who require different activations of the environment throughout the day including quiet workspace, grab-and-go food options, and playful social spaces.”
A new addition to the hotel is Lady M, the Madison’s upscale cocktail lounge inspired by the striking living room of the Madison White House. Located adjacent to the lobby, guests are greeted with contemporary light fixtures, plush seating, distinctive artwork, and subtle accents that reference Madison’s own refurbishment of the White House in 1801.
